Frequently asked questions

FAQ and contacts

Answers to the questions patients ask most often. If yours is not here, email info@anesteziologs.lv.

How does the online consultation work?

The consultation is in writing, through the questionnaire and email, not by video call or in person. You fill in the questionnaire online, the doctor assesses your health and emails you her assessment and instructions. If she has any questions, she will ask them by email.

How soon will I get an answer?

Within 24 hours of receiving your payment. The doctor starts reviewing your questionnaire once payment has arrived.

When should I fill in the questionnaire?

At least 48 hours before your surgery, so the doctor has time to review it. If you may need an ECG or chest X-ray, apply earlier so there is time to get them done.

How do I pay?

By bank transfer. You will see the bank details and a payment reference with your code right after submitting the questionnaire. Please use the exact reference so the doctor can match your payment.

What if I have health insurance?

Insurers usually cover this consultation. After payment, together with the anaesthesiologist's answer, we send you an invoice for your payment. Submit this invoice to your insurer together with the payment order from your bank. If you are not sure whether your policy covers it, ask your insurer.

What if I apply at the last minute?

You are welcome to apply even at the last minute. As soon as you submit the questionnaire, the doctor is notified, and she can review it as soon as your payment arrives. Please keep in mind that the doctor works mainly in the operating theatre. If the consultation is requested less than 48 hours before surgery and the answer takes longer than 24 hours, the fee is not refunded.

Which test results should I attach?

Blood test results and, if you have them, ECG and chest X-ray reports. The doctor can also see your test results that are available in the Datamed portal. If you do not have results yet, you can submit the questionnaire without them and email them later to info@anesteziologs.lv. If further tests are needed, the doctor will let you know by email.

What will I receive, and what do I bring to surgery?

You will receive an email with instructions, the anaesthesiologist's assessment and an invoice. If your surgery is at ARS Medical Centre, the doctor sends the documents to ARS. If it is elsewhere, print the questionnaire and assessment, sign the questionnaire and bring both on the day of surgery.

I take blood thinners or Ozempic, Wegovy, Mounjaro. What should I do?

Do not stop them yourself. Mark them in the questionnaire, and the doctor will tell you whether and when to stop.

What if my surgery date changes or I fall ill?

Please email info@anesteziologs.lv straight away with your full name and the new date.

Can I fill in the questionnaire in English?

Yes, the questionnaire is available in Latvian and English. The assessment and invoice are always in Latvian, because they are used by a medical institution in Latvia.

How is my data protected?

The questionnaire is sent encrypted, and only the doctor can access it. The questionnaire and attached files are deleted automatically 7 days after surgery. See the privacy policy for details.
